The All Progressives Congress on Thursady commenced the screening of the sixteen aspirants, who have signified interest in the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi State.
This follows the setting up of the screening committee by the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole on Wednesday with Senator Hope Uzodimma as chairman.
The exercise which commenced on Thursday at the state Secretariat of the party started at 10:00 a.m. and went on till late in the night.
Speaking after the last aspirant was screened around 9:00 p.m., Senator Uzodimma expressed satisfaction with the way the exercise was progressing.
He said that the exercise was the first phase where raw data have been collected from the aspirants to be processed at the National Secretariat before results would be announced.
Uzodimma said that the committee was very meticulous in going through the documents to avoid unnecessary mistakes that may be latched on to by the opposition.
Aspirants screened included the incumbent, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the former Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin, the two sons of late icon of Kogi politics, Abubakar Audu, Muhammad and Mustapha Audu.
Others were; Dr Babatunde Irukera, Professor Seidu Onalo Ogah, Yakubu Mohammed, Hadjia Rukayat Ibrahim, Hadiza Ibrahim and Engineer Bashir Gegu.
